Dear Diary, (November 1999)

 

 November proved to be a memorable mix of highly stressful situations and the empowerment that comes from getting through. With great anticipation we met Jay in San Francisco to see John Prine perform with Iris DeMent and Todd Snider. But the superb music was tainted by a nightmarish encounter with an badly behaved woman from Steve's past.

Our rock solid friendship with Jay, the understanding support of Beanie, Steve's openness and willingness to do whatever it takes, my own strength and integrity, and our shared committment to each other and our relationship, combined to turn a shockingly horrible experience into yet another healing step forward. We not only survived; we thrived. And I was able to reclaim something I had lost. Wow! Sometimes it's scary how truly great we are doing; not a second is taken for granted. last • next
